Why game journalism died with the magazine

There’s a lot of shady dealings in video games media today, and the primary issue is that the internet killed the system established by gaming magazines, and caused readers to expect content for free. That’s fine if you’re expecting to read exclusively from hobbyists, but professionals generally seek money for their work. Game Rankings 2016: Fire Emblem Fates

Before we get into the rankings, I’m going to address the localization briefly. I’ve written about it a decent bit at Game Zone, so there’s no need to go in depth here. It sucks, I think it’s garbage, and I’m glad fans are making a patch to fix the godawful job Treehouse did on this release.

Like most of the gaming community, I do not own a PS Vita. I could never justify the purchase, despite really wanting some of the games on it. The wait may have been painful, but Sony ultimately rewarded my unwillingness to buy their handheld by bringing the definitive version of its best game to the PS4.
