Spider-Man On Track for 2021 Release, Marvel’s Avengers Senior Designer Confirms

Good news for Marvel’s Avengers PlayStation players, as it is confirmed that Spider-Man is still scheduled for a release date in 2021. Fans were worried as there had been silence on this topic for some time.

Scott Walters, senior game designer at Crystal Dynamics, spoke with Screen Rant, and confirmed to them that Spider-Man was always intended to be released for 2021, and that those plans haven’t really changed and they are working hard to bring him into the game, even with challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In terms of what we can say now, we’ve always scheduled and looked to bring Spider-Man out in 2021 for PlayStation owners. This is still on track, so we’ll have more announcements later on this year,” Walters said when speaking with Screen Rant.

Back in August 2020 Spiderman was announced for PS players only, which of course came with its own fair share of criticism: Platform exclusivity of a beloved character isn’t going to go down well with players on other platforms. Sadly, all players have yet to see Spidey in game with him missing the original release window of early 2021. Still, if what Scott Walters says is true, we expect him to release relatively soon if he’s still 2021 bound, as we only have four months left in the year.

War for Wakanda Expansion arrives August 17th.

And of course, the War for Wakanda expansion, featuring Black Panther, are arrives today, so hopefully we see Spider-Man in a big content drop very soon.

But for now, we eagerly wait for future announcements from Crystal Dynamics.
