Cuphead developers confirm it will not release on PS4

PS4 owners will have to play highly anticipated run-and-gun platformer Cuphead at a friend’s house, as the developers confirmed on a NeoGaf forum that it’s exclusive to PC and Xbox One.

When a user posed the question “So is this game 100 percent lifetime PC/Microsoft exclusive?”, a developer at Studio MDHR responded with: “Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GoG release likely shortly after). There will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that (unless we lose our houses or whatever).” They followed up by saying “We own the Cuphead IP.”

What’s interesting about this response is the use of the word “this” in “this Cuphead game.” Perhaps it indicates the developers are already planning a sequel, one that won’t be tied up with Microsoft. Following up by clarifying who owns the IP furthers this assertion. Until then, however, Cuphead will stay an Xbox One console exclusive.
