Splatoon 2 is getting its own Nintendo Direct, just in time to kick the hype machine into overdrive. As if the Nintendo Switch shortage wasn’t bad enough already, this is going to light a fire under the community, especially in Japan.

Despite being locked onto the dead Wii U, the original Splatoon sold an astounding ~5M copies. It has an active community to this day, with tons of fan art and dedicated forums. Unfortunately, the sequel is also facing a sales-potential-crushing issue: Supply shortage. It’s really hard for a game to outsell its predecessor when the console holder can’t produce more systems.
Oh well, Nintendo will eventually get it sorted out. Until then, let’s just enjoy the hype of the Splatoon 2 Direct this Thursday, July 6, at 7am PT/10am PT
Never played the first one, but I’m pretty excited to try this one. Need to get something for my switch.
