Grand Theft Auto V has had startling longevity, owing to its complex online and detailed open world that provides gamers with an almost unfathomable amount of stuff to do. Even outside of its lauded story, I still play Grand Theft Auto V for things like its tennis, golf, and the peyote animal trips.
On June 14th, the OpenIV website received an official cease-and-desist letter from Take-Two, declaring that the popular modding software can “allow parties to defeat security features” of Grand Theft Auto V, IV, and classic hit San Andreas, and is in “violation of Take-Two’s rights”.
A change.org petition has accrued nearly 50,000 signatures
In light of this, the Steam community has responded by firing a slew of negative reviews at Rockstar’s open-world behemoth. As it currently stands, the reviews are now “Mostly Negative,” accurately reflecting the community’s opinion of Take-Two’s decision to issue a cease and desist order.
