In the wake of the new and previously unannounced Dissidia Final Fantasy game being listed on Amazon this morning, Square Enix has announced the third installment of the Dissidia Final Fantasy spin-off series, entitled Dissidia NT.
The previous two games, Dissidia and Dissidia 012, released in 2008 and 2011 respectively, were PSP bound fighting-games with a secondary focus on RPG-influenced character building. Each game included a cast of heroes and villains from across the main Final Fantasy platforms and pitted them against one another across arenas also based on areas from the games.
Listed for release on New Year’s Eve this year, Dissidia NT claims to have a roster of over 20 heroes and villains, including Noctis from Final Fantasy XV. It also boasts all-new 3v3 battles, and a summon system which seems to include Shiva, Odin, and Leviathan.
Touted as a “team-based brawler”, returning heroes include the Warrior of Light, Bartz, Cecil, Shantoto, Vaan, Cloud, Squall, and seemingly the remainder of the mainstay of the Dissidia cast from games past.
