Ubisoft cultivated E3 hype this past Thursday with a developer blog and teaser trailer highlighting some of its plans for what has become one of the most highly anticipated conferences every year. Fans seem to be expecting a great show when they line up at the Orpheum Theater on June 12, as the massive Developer/Publisher announced they sold a whopping 15,000 fan tickets to the event, something they’ve never done before.
We can definitely expect to see footage from the new Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 5, Just Dance, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and The Crew 2, but Ubisoft also teased a new IP reveal in their minute long trailer. The trailer shows two Ubisoft developers telling Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, that they had put together a video for their upcoming conference. However, since many of the games had yet to be announced, they had to cut out footage to avoid spoiling anything.
The trailer blacks out certain parts and teases a “Conference Exclusive”, cuts of South Park are blacked out with “Easter Eggs Deemed PR risk”, Far Cry 5 with “Feature Shown At Conference”, and most interestingly “New IP Saved For Conference.”
Fans can expect more than just announcements and gameplay from Ubisoft, as the blog post stated their booth on the show floor will feature live entertainment, as well as opportunities to win special in-game content. They’ll also be selling exclusive merch to fans at the Ubi Workshop.
Ubisoft CEO was quoted as saying: “E3 is truly a moment of excitement and pride, not just for Ubisoft but for our entire industry. We’re looking forward to sharing our unique take on creating game worlds and our action-packed line-up with players, and to seeing what our fellow developers are working on.”
Have to love it when companies can joke about their iconic flaws.
The Ubisoft Press Conference is on Monday, June 12, at 1 PM PST. This will be the first conference in 5 years not hosted by Aisha Tyler, as the developers will be hosting the presentation themselves.
