PlayStation Unveils New Tournaments Feature

PlayStation has announced that they will be introducing Tournaments to PlayStation in partnership with ESL Gaming. Tournaments will have an open sign up that requires a PlayStation Plus membership, a copy of the game featured in the tournament, and linking your account to an ESL Gaming account (register here).

The first tournament available for PS4 users will be NBA 2K17, running from October 27th to November 26th with prizes awarded to the top 3 players.

Tournaments will be available under Events in the PS4 system menu where users can view the details of the tournament and register if they wish to participate. PS4 will automatically prompt the user when it is their turn to play their matches.

Initial tournaments will maintain a 1 on 1 format, but with numerous features said to be in the works, team-based tournaments are likely not too far off down the road.
